History
Zeta Chapter was founded and established at Syracuse University on April 5, 1997. Four dedicated women banded together to bring Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. to this campus. They sought to be part of an organization that would impact, and ultimately bring forth unity within the Latino Community. Through their research, these women realized they wanted an organization comprised of women who exhibited strength, determination, commitment and the motivation to meet the needs of Latinos in America and that welcomed all women.
After extensive interaction with the women of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., it became clear that these were women who possessed the leadership qualities that would meet the goals of the Syracuse University student body and make a difference in the Latino community. It was evident that these women were seeking change and coordinating events and programs, which enhanced the Latino community. Since 1997, Las Hermanas of Zeta Chapter have engaged in a myriad of service efforts and have been recognized for these efforts with several distinguished awards.
