History

In Summer 2013, Carline Vargas-Gonzalez, who moved to Texas, led discussions with Hermanas in Texas about how to establish an Undergraduate and/or a Professional/Graduate Chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. in the area. After months of discussions via a social network, a group of diverse and ambitious women from Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, Pecos, Pharr, and Houston, TX submitted an application to the National Executive Board to form the 11th Professional/Graduate Chapter of the Sorority and the first Chapter in Texas.

Hermanas wanted to bring an extension of their respective chapters to a new area and also grow their unconditional familia. They also wanted to continue to uphold the sorority ideals of La Comunidad, La Hermandad and La Cultura Latina, this time in Houston. In October 2013, this came to fruition with the establishment of Pi Lambda Chapter.
