Pi Chis in Action |
Pi Chis are not women who just talk the talk. We walk the walk. We push. We strive. We persevere. We succeed. And we do it with all the devotion and passion that we have in our hearts. Being seen as "minorities” or women are not obstacles we allow in our paths. Instead, we push past these barriers and open doors to new horizons every day. This is a small sample of our amazing Hermanas in action! We'd like to congratulate all of our most recent post-graduate degree recipients! Here are some of our new doctors! ![]() Andrea Carolina Duhon, PhD I feel like it is my responsibility to empower women by continuing to pursue education in fields that are not normally composed of many women. As a Latina with a PhD I am sending a message to young women of color that they can to can accomplish anything they set their mind to. ![]() Karen Jaime, PhD As a performer and an academic, I was looking for a way to bring the practical and the theoretical into dialogue with one another. The program in performance studies, and by extension my degree, allows me to continue to perform, while writing about performance and teaching courses on Latin@ Studies, Queer Theory, and Hip-Hop Studies amongst others. ![]() Katiusca Moreno, Ed.L.D. My work in developing leaders in and outside of schools is rooted in the belief that transforming our education system starts with first transforming ourselves. ![]() Mariangie Feliz, MD The human body has always fascinated me and becoming a doctor has been my dream since I was 5 years old. It took me a while to get here but I finally accomplished my dream. Helping out those in need is something I have always been interested in and with my degree, I can help those in need in a different way than most people can. In the future I wish to come back to Dominican Republic, and other third world countries to promote preventive care, health education and provide free health care to those in need. ![]() Raquel Bracho, JD Raquel currently serves as in-house general counsel for a corporation, and also handles cases on a pro bono basis through the Community Law Center, while living in Baltimore, MD. |
