The number of alumnae within our organization has grown substantially throughout the years. In that time, the role of alumnae members has been defined by the needs of the organization, offering alumnae the opportunity to remain active beyond their undergraduate life by assuming an array of roles within the organization. These roles have included, but are not limited to: undergraduate chapter advisors, expansion committee members, members of the National Executive Board, Regional Directors and representing the Sorority locally and nationally in various other capacities.

In the Summer of 1997, two alumnae Hermanas established Pi Alpha, the first Professional/Graduate chapter of the Sorority. The purpose of Pi Alpha is:

  • To provide a venue for alumnae to collaborate and uphold the ideals of the Sorority: La Comunidad, La Cultura Latina y La Hermandad.
  • To provide a viable forum for New York City-based alumnae to fulfill their goals and purposes within the Sorority's existing structure; and
  • To expand our Hermandad to new women in the professional and graduate sectors of our society.

In the Summer of 2000, Pi Alpha Chapter welcomed the first Professional/Graduate Intake Class of the Sorority. This effort was undertaken to provide Professional/Graduate women an opportunity to join the Sorority and uphold the ideals of La Comunidad, La Cultura Latina y La Hermandad. This intake class was comprised of Joanne Fernandez, (Hermana Visayá) and Marielys Divanne, (Hermana Seranil).
