In the Fall of 1999, a group of women at the University of Delaware began the search for an Hermandad which would foster unity, support the efforts of Latina women, and create unbreakable bonds. By the end of the semester, these interested women decided that Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. was the ideal organization for professional women who wanted to focus on La Cultura Latina, La Comunidad and La Hermandad.

In the Fall of 2000, the interested women officially pursued their interest in the organization in order to bring a chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. to the University of Delaware collegiate community. After two years of interest, four strong, dedicated women began the journey towards Hermandad in the Fall of 2001. On November 26, 2001, the Omicron Chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. was established.
