History

The High Point Provisional Chapter was founded on April 20, 2019 at High Point University in High Point, North Carolina. This Chapter became the first Latinx organization to be established on High Point University’s campus. Through dedication and perseverance, five strong women came together to celebrate la Cultura Latina, la Comunidad, and la Hermandad through Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc.

Through the strong efforts and guidance of alumnae Hermanas (Kamille Vargas, Corinna Fonseca, Karla Ontiveros, Wendy Tapia, Elaine Townsend-Utin, and Jendayi Brooks-Flemister) the Alpha Zeta Chapter was founded by Josefina Gutierrez, Suleyma Torres-Garcia, Karen Huezo, Nia Melissa Rainer, and Brittany De Jesus. Becoming the first Latinx organization on the campus created a space for all minority womxn to feel heard. The Chapter was inspired by the supportive welcome from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, the National Panhellenic Council, and peers who expressed the need for our organization to be present on this campus.  The Sorority’s Vision, Mission and Goals are the driving force behind the efforts Hermanas have made to create a more inclusive and diverse environment at this University.
