Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. works to empower women by providing a supportive network dedicated to their personal and professional advancement. Each year, as part of Lambda Pi Chi’s Proyecto H.A.C.E.R. (Hermanas Advancing Career and Educational Resources), the Sorority awards College Book Scholarships to outstanding young women or non-binary students graduating from high school who are highly motivated, and committed to community service, leadership, and academic excellence. Scholarship recipients receive a one-time award of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, or $250 for third place, to assist them in covering the costs of textbooks and school supplies for the first year of college.

The 2020 Proyecto H.A.C.E.R. College Book Scholarship is open to all high school graduating seniors who identify as women or non-binary from marginalized backgrounds who are attending high schools in the United States and who will enroll in a college or university for the 2020-2021 academic year. Scholarship applicants must be in good standing with their high schools. Academic achievement, leadership potential, and community involvement will be considered during the selection process.

Required Application Materials:

  1. 300 word essays summarizing how you’ve demonstrated commitment to community service, cultural awareness, and leadership; and your academic and/or professional goals.
  2. An official high school transcript (Scan and email a copy to; it will need to show the verification date of graduation. 
  3. A current résumé, including the following information:
    1. Applicant’s contact information (name, phone number, email and mailing addresses)
    2. High school information (name, mailing address, and phone number)
    3. Cumulative grade point average
    4. Academic awards and honors received (if applicable)
    5. Leadership and community service activities


  1. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, advisor, mentor, supervisor, or administrator. Letters must include insight to the applicant's good standing and eligibility. (Signed originals must be scanned and attached to the online application or emailed to

Interviews: Virtual interviews will be conducted after applications are submitted. Notifications of date and time will occur through email or phone.

Deadline: Friday July 10th, 2020 at 11:59 P.M. EST. Unfortunately, submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.

Selection and Notification: Scholarship recipients will be publicly announced at the 2020 Lambda Pi Chi’s National Convention and will be required to provide proof of enrollment to their college or university prior to receiving Scholarship funds. Recipients and those not selected will be notified by email.
