Clara Rivas, GM for Telemundo Philadelphia, as Keynote for LPC National Convention

Description: clara pix (2)NEW YORK, NY Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc is proud to announce the selection of Clara Rivas as the Keynote Speaker for their upcoming National Convention. The event will take place from August 3rd – 5th at the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton at Center City in Philadelphia, PA. Ms. Rivas, currently the General Manager for Telemundo Philadelphia, will be addressing the attendees during the Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday, August 4th.

Lambda Pi Chi selected Ms. Rivas after careful review of numerous qualified, talented and inspirational candidates. Her devotion to her career as well as the betterment of the community embodies the ideals upon which Lambda Pi Chi was built. Ms. Rivas has created such programs as Día del Niño (Children’s Day) and La Feria de la Familia (The Family Fair) for the Latino community in Philadelphia. She has also created awareness of Latino cultural and political issues in the markets where she has worked by advocating a variety of important causes over the years including: educational attainment, children’s health, women’s issues, immigrant rights and voter registration and engagement. She is passionate about the audience she serves using her position to create increased opportunities for Hispanics. The Philadelphia Business Journal recognized her commitment to the community when she was recognized as one of their Women of Distinction Awards in 2011. Rivas is also a member of Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Lambda Pi Chi’s National Convention themed "Women of Strength, Women of Character”, will be attended by over 120 members from across the country. The annual gathering will host a variety of educational and development workshops and presentations for the benefit of its members and the organization as a whole.

The first Latina focused sorority founded at an Ivy-league institution, Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. was established on April 16, 1988 at Cornell University. Comprised of undergraduate, graduate and professional women, Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. seeks to unify women through the promotion of community service programs that highlight the contributions of women and people of color with an emphasis on the Latina and offer opportunities for academic and professional advancement to members of historically under-represented groups.
