Latina Sorority Awards Scholarships to High School Seniors across the US.

NEW YORK - AUGUST 13TH, 2020 

Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. is awarding 15 college scholarships to young women across the United States that are attending college in Fall 2020. The Sorority awards these scholarships as part of its Proyecto H.A.C.E.R. (Hermanas Advancing Career and Educational Resources) initiative. These scholarships award outstanding young seniors who are highly motivated, and committed to community service, leadership, and academic excellence. Scholarship recipients will receive a one-time award of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, or $250 for third place, to assist them in covering the costs of textbooks and school supplies for their first year of college.

About Proyecto H.A.C.E.R.

Proyecto H.A.C.E.R. focuses on assisting historically marginalized and/or low-income women further their educational and career goals by providing access to resources that are not accessible to them. Innovative partnerships with community-based organizations and for-profit companies are utilized to increase access and awareness of educational financial resources and employment opportunities; to generate additional resources for minority and/or low income women. In addition to these resources Lambda Pi Chi also provides mentorship and guidance to at-risk youth to assist in their social and educational advancement.

 
Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. (LPC)

The first Latina focused sorority founded at an Ivy-league institution, Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., was established on April 16,1988 at Cornell University. Comprised of undergraduate, graduate,  and professional women, Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., seeks to unify women

through the promotion of community service programs that highlight the contributions of women and people of color with an emphasis on the Latina and offer opportunities for academic and professional advancement to  members of historically underrepresented groups.
