Lambda Pi Chi Epsilon Chapter Receives Five University Awards

NEW YORK – February 25, 2016 – The Epsilon Chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Incorporated receives five awards from the American University (AU) Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Greek Life Awards at an event this past Wednesday, February 24, 2016 on campus. The Epsilon Chapter fully embodies the mission and vision of the Sorority by advancing our shared dedication and promotion of public service and cultural awareness, with an emphasis on Latino history, contributions, and experiences.

"I am pleased to see that our chapters are not only being recognized for their community service efforts, but also for their academic performance," said Chris Diaz, National Vice President of Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc.  "Epsilon chapter's awards speak not only to the importance of our ideal of la Comunidad, but to our Hermanas' dedication to academic excellence."

The Epsilon Chapter awards are:

  • Outstanding Community Service Efforts: for Epsilon Chapter's "Justice for Juniors." A program in partnership with District of Columbia organizations who work to reduce recidivism of youth who are in the District's juvenile justice system, and for the Chapter's persistent efforts of HIV/AID education and community service.
  • Outstanding Campus Involvement: More than half of the Chapter’s members serve in executive positions within campus organizations and Greek Life councils. Additionally, the Chapter is recognized for their strong efforts of creating collaborative programming with multiple organizations on campus.

  • Outstanding Senior – Dalexi Carrillo: for dedication and hard work as a Chapter President and member of the SPA leadership program.

  • Highest Grade Point Average (GPA) – Fall 2014

"I am beyond excited to have received these awards, because in the past the chapter has sensed some neglect and was not previously nominated for awards," said Melissa Ramos, Epsilon Chapter Hermana. "So it is a great feeling to see my Hermanas finally being recognized for the hard work they put in to creating a better Greek community."

Since the Epsilon Chapter earned five awards, they are now finalists for AU's Chapter of the Year and Greek Leader of the Year awards. These awards are scheduled for Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Congratulations Epsilon Chapter!
