Hermanas keep (re)defining leadership. Most recently, our Tau chapter Hermanas were honored by receiving two awards during Union College's Fifth Annual Greek Awards (“Letters Today, Leaders Tomorrow”) as a way of celebrating the institution’s impressive Greek heritage and current successes as members of the Greek communities. The Fifth Annual Greek Awards ceremony was held on the evening of Friday, May 31st, 2013 as part of Greek Week, and ReUnion Weekend.

Philanthropy / Community Service of the Year Award
This award was meant to recognize one Greek chapter in their efforts to raise funds towards a charitable cause and/or participate in projects to better the local community. The award was based on the number of events the chapter has participated in and/or the amount of money raised for a given cause. Recipients of this award must have had consistently involved in multiple philanthropic events throughout the year.

MGC (Multicultural Greek Council) Involvement Award
This award was presented to the chapter that has most fully and actively supported MGC activities throughout the year. Recipients of this award will have had supported events held by MGC and has consistently shown to enhance a sense of unity and camaraderie within the organizations in the council. In addition, recipients would have demonstrated how they have taken on multiple leadership roles within the council. (Kathleen Portillo (H. Eixanira) is Vice President of MGC and Katarzyna Kasza (H. Rianícel) is the Treasurer of MGC.

The application had to outline how the chapter has contributed to the Multicultural Greek Council. Attendance at MGC and other mandatory events was heavily taken into consideration. Mandatory events include those that are sanctioned as such for all Greeks by the Greek Advisor.  The chapter who was given the award, and therefore had the highest degree of participation, won the MGC Organization of the Year Award.

Congratutlations Hermanas!
