EMMY AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST AND AUTHOR ANNOUNCED AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR LAMBDA PI CHI SORORITY’S 2011 NATIONAL CONVENTION

New York, NY- Award winning journalist and author Sandra Guzman will be the headline keynote speaker at the 2011 National Convention of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad /Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., taking place August 5-7, 2011 in Boston, MA.

"We are very excited to welcome Sandra Guzman as the keynote speaker for this year’s National Convention. As a national organization that strives to promote the Latino culture and empower women across the United States, she will serve as a great source of inspiration to all our members,” said Maria L. Diaz, National President of Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. "Through her many professional and personal accomplishments, she has become a leader and a role model for Latinas across the country, and we are honored to have her share these experiences with Lambda Pi Chi,” she added.

Sandra Guzman, whose credentials include Emmy award-winning television producer at Telemundo, author of the critically acclaimed books The Latina’s Bible (2002) & The New Latina’s Bible (2011), former editor-in-chief of Latina magazine, and founder of a bilingual website for Latinas called soloella.com, is no stranger to the organization and its mission.

"It's an honor for me to join las Hermanas of Lambda Pi Chi on such a special occasion. Sisterhood, love of community, and empowerment through education are powerful tools for healthy communities; and the dedication that each of the sisters have to these lofty ideals is admirable and inspiring. I'm moved by Lambda Pi Chi's loyal friendships, talent, commitment to each other and the Latino community," said Sandra Guzman, who also recounts her first experience with Lambda Pi Chi several years ago in the original critically acclaimed self-help book The Latina’s Bible (2002).

The 2011 National Convention will have the theme of "Hermandad: No Limits, No Boundaries, All Action," which will tie together the organization’s motto, along with its mission, vision and goals. The theme is designed to give members the tools necessary to go into their communities and serve as agents of change, while empowering themselves to be active in their college campus, work place and home. This year’s convention and theme will also honor Lambda Pi Chi’s founders’ vision of establishing an organization that went far beyond the college undergraduate experience.
