New York City, NY

January 25, 2008

The National Step Team of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority Inc. (“Lambda Pi Chi”) appears in the new motion picture “How She Move.” The movie, a gritty coming into your own film, highlights the world of stepping.

The National Step Team was approached in 2006 to appear in an independent film of Sienna Pictures, a production company based in Toronto, Canada. The team consisting of Nicole Dominicci, Valerie Ruiz, Maria Morales, Emily Cruz, Raquel Mendoza, and Andrea Hernandez, spent 3 days shooting the film in Canada. This production makes Lambda Pi Chi the first Latino Greek Organization to appear in a major motion picture that will be distributed nationwide.

“Along with all of our academic and professional achievements to date, we are very excited to see our ‘Oh So Fly' National Step Team in a major motion picture that highlights the talents of our Hermanas,” says the National President of Lambda Pi Chi, Quisaira A. Whitney. “We hope that this film helps to solidify the fact that stepping is a part of Latino fraternal life.”

Lambda Pi Chi has been stepping since 1989 and has had a National Step team since 1999. The National championship winning team has performed and competed in various cities across the country such as Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and Washington. D.C. The team is gearing up for its upcoming 2008 season. Please be on the look out for their award winning performance at a venue near you.

“How She Move” opens nationwide January 25, 2008
