History

In the summer of 1999, two Hermanas, Kathy Rodriguez and Karina Ramirez, came together to discuss the possibility of starting a Professional/Graduate Chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. in Miami, FL. These Hermanas realized that they needed a venue to develop their goals and ambitions as Hermanas of LPC. Through the establishment of a Chapter in the Miami Area, they sought to bring the goals and ideals of LPC to their community.

After much deliberation and planning, these two Hermanas formally applied for membership during the Summer Conclave of 1999. At this time, Pi Gamma Chapter was voted in by the National Assembly on August 7, 1999 as the third alumnae chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc.

The goals of Pi Gamma Chapter are:

  • To fulfill the goals and purposes of Lambda Pi Chi in the Greater Miami Metropolitan Area;
  • To reach out the city's many campuses and hold workshops, discussions, and events that will increase interaction among university students;
  • To network with the social and political entities in the community to establish vehicles for promoting La Comunidad; and
  • To share our vision of community service with the La Comunidad of Miami.
